Nim is a teacher in Amphoe Yi-ngo. Her husband, Ton, runs a noodle stall three nights a week and helps his brother on a rubber plot when the trees are being tapped. Their two children are in primary school. Ton's mother lives in the house. For years the shophouse near the market was a sentence they said after guests left: one day, when things settle.

They booked the Goal Map after a May in which the school fees and a hospital visit for Ton's mother landed in the same fortnight as a slow month at the stall. Nim had covered the gap from her salary and was angry. Ton had put stall cash into stock because that is how the stall stays open, and he was angry too. Neither number was wrong. They had no page that held both.

Sitting one was mostly the stall. Ton described a strong week and a rainy week. Nim corrected the household bills he had forgotten. They went home with a watching sheet and an instruction not to behave better for the planner's sake. The watched week was thinner than Ton's story. He said so at sitting two, which is when the work became useful.

The goals they named were the shophouse, the children's fees through upper secondary, a monthly amount for Ton's mother that would not be skipped, and a small later-life line so Nim's pension was not the only plan. The shophouse amount that fitted the thin week was 3,000 THB a month. The date they could defend was April 2031. Ton wanted 2028. The figures would not carry 2028 unless the mother's line or the fees gave way. They refused both. The date moved.

They disliked the questionnaire. It was long, and one question about gifts to relatives took an evening at the kitchen table. Nim said afterwards that she would have preferred a shorter form and a longer first sitting. The office has kept that complaint. The map itself they still use: four envelopes, a review set for November 2026, and a house date they have not quietly revised back to soon.
